Gummy Bear Breast Implants

Gummy Bear breast implants are comprised of cohesive silicone gel designed to retain shape and consistency whilst providing realistic movement and response to touch.

The implant casing is very similar to other products on the market but unlike traditional fluid-filled implants the Gummy Bear breast implant uses solid silicone gel inside the casing.

Silicone Safety

There have been some concerns about the safety of using silicone breast implants as fear that leakage of silicon into the body from a ruptured implant may pose multiple health risks. In the US in1992 the FDA (Food and Drug Association) passed a moratorium on silicone breast implants. The ruling is under review and there are currently many clinical trials running in the US to determine the safety of silicone implants. The UK has not imposed restrictions on the use of silicone breast implants.

The Gummy Bear breast implant offers a solution to this safety concern as the material inside the implant is solid and will not leak or seep. Damage to the outer shell does not affect the inside as the gel material remains bonded to itself inside the casing. The silicone gummy filler inside the implants is designed not to break apart or leak into the surrounding chest area. The name comes from the similarity between the elasticated gummy sweets and the gel material.

Advantages of Gummy Bear Implants

Gummy Bear Implants have a more solid feel than their fluid counterparts. Breasts that have undergone Gummy Bear implant surgery will have the same realistic motion as natural breast but may feel firmer or fuller.

The silicone gel holds its shape for longer according to research so Gummy Bear implants may come with a longer guarantee than saline implants.

The main causes of rupture within breast implants are rippling or wrinkling. Rippling and wrinkling occur in fluid filled implants where the inner material migrates with body movement and cause the outer casing to crease. Gel implants retain consistency and shape and are not as affected by gravity or movement. This means they are less prone to rupture and remain safe even if they do.

Disadvantages of Gummy Bear Implants

Silicone implant surgery usually requires a larger surgical incision than fluid implants due to the solid nature of the inner material. The cost of Gummy Bear implants can be higher than other breast augmentation surgeries due to the higher cost of the material.
